Song for 'the flower'

you said you're tired
but you didn't need a bed
you look so weak
but you said you're not sick
you curse your fate
but sought no one to hate
you lost your view
but found the way to review
you hate their God
and love your better Lord

and you wish for that
moment to appear
floating deeply and disappear
into the darkness
nothingness
endlessness...

It's so hard for me to write just a single poem
these years. I am lucky that I still have that 'magic'. This one I wrote just in minute count. It was as if it had been sitting silently there, in the corner of my mind, waiting to enter immortality through my fingers...

You, me and the space between

This heart is no longer mine
Right from the time I met you
But it's thrown away like rain
that splash on your empty hands

There's no use in following you now
As meaningless as the twigs that bow
And welcome the frowning wind
That's swept the tears of our sin

Still I can hear these wandering lines
Echoed in the air that you breath...

"We’re strange allies
With warring hearts
What a wild-eyed beast you be
The space between, the wicked lies we tell
And hope to keep us safe from the pain..."*

*Lyrics quoted from Dave Matthews Band's 'Space Between'

setelah hujan

kubangan kaca di pinggir jalan
yang memantul bayang istana beton
pecah di bawah roda kereta zaman
memercik di muka fakir si penonton

selalu begitu setelah hujan
selalu begitu setelah hujan...

pagi itu

pagi itu kuhidu lagi
bau puting susu ibuku
dan peluh sisa kerja sedari pagi
di dapur kecil rumah kami dulu

pagi itu kurasa lagi
usap halus tangan kasar ayahku
dan tepuk ritmisnya di pantatku
di atas kasur kapuk randu

pagi itu kuingat lagi
gambar-gambar kilas balitaku
memapar jelas satu-satu
di dengkur napas Si mungilku

Love is Like a Friendship Caught on Fire

Who would've thought that Bruce Lee, the gung-fu master, did have a very romantic side?
They are even too romantic for a guy whose image seemed to stick with those of violently bloody scenes.

Here's one among numerous of his romantic poems taken from his book Bruce Lee: Artist of Life, edited by John Little.

Love is Like A Friendship Caught on Fire

Love is like a friendship caught on fire.

In the beginning a flame,

Very pretty, often hot and fierce

But still only light and flickering.

As love grows order, our hearts mature

And our love becomes as coals,

Deep-burning and unquenchable.

january song

"It's raining again," whispered you
Your cheek on mine closer grew
And our hearts pounding in rhyme

"Do the rooster here sound that bad?"
You gave me that puzzled look and smiled
Then my hands in yours gently clasped

"Which part did you like?"
A long pause of silence...

I smiled, sinking underneath the blanket, "this one..."

fana

jika sore nanti kau melihatnya datang

dalam jubah hitam atau sayap putih
bersama pesan yang tertulis saat kau benih
kau ‘kan tahu tak ada jalan selain pulang...

solitaire

...dan aku kembali lagi ke sini

pantai putih beriak sepi
setelah menari berhari-hari
dan mabuk laut tak terperi

tapi masih tak kujumpai
kerlip bintang yang kucari
mungkin memang tak ada lagi
biar kutanya pada Sang mimpi
